There was a time where all desktop publishing was for the real world and tangible results: long print runs, paper choices, press proofs, and professional high quality plate presses. And the last vestiges of this paper waste, in this day and age, are on the way out. This is where I started my design career.
I started doing theater posters, and anything that came out of a pre-press house. All physical output, on plastics, with plastic, inks, and just about any kind surface. There will always be a need for physical outputs, as we move into the digital age, just in decreasing ethical or responsible ways.
